An orifice plate assembly is crucial for fluid flow measurement, functioning by creating a pressure drop to gauge fluid flow. As the fluid navigates through the bore in the orifice plate, its velocity escalates while its pressure diminishes, resulting in a differential pressure between the upstream and downstream sides. This differential pressure is captured by pressure taps linked to a transmitter. Since the pressure drop is proportional to the square of the flow rate, this setup can be effectively utilized to calculate the fluid's flow rate accurately.
For enhanced connections, our offerings include weld neck, screwed, and slip-on flanges, in addition to flange taps, vent, and drain options. The plate design adheres to B S / A P I standards and features high-temperature bolts, nuts, and jack screw provisions.

The most common orifice plate used for fluid flow measurement is the square-edged, concentric bored design. It is employed across various processes, including the flow of clean liquids, gases, and steam. Typically made of stainless steel, this type of orifice plate may also utilize other materials like nickel and Monel for their excellent corrosive resistant properties. Renowned for its high accuracy, this orifice plate is essential for effective pressure drop measurement.
Eccentric bore orifice plates are designed with the orifice set off-center, making them distinct from concentric varieties. This unique location of the bore aids in preventing the accumulation of solid materials or foreign particles, which is particularly beneficial for fluid flow measurement in applications that involve fluids containing suspended solid particles. However, it is important to note that eccentric bore orifice plates can be more uncertain in their measurements compared to concentric orifice plates, especially when it comes to pressure drop measurement.

The segmentally bored orifice plates feature a hole that resembles a segment of a concentric circle. Similar to the design of eccentric orifice plates, the segmental hole is positioned downward in applications involving gas flow. These segmental bores are commonly utilized for fluid flow measurement, particularly when measuring liquids or gases that contain non-abrasive impurities. This makes them ideal for industries such as sewage treatment, steel manufacturing, chemicals, water conditioning, paper production, and petrochemicals, where pressure drop measurement is essential.
The quadrant edge bore is an orifice with a rounded inlet edge, specifically designed for fluid flow measurement. The upstream side mimics a flow nozzle while the downstream side functions as a sharp edge orifice plate. This design is particularly recommended for accurately measuring the flow of high viscosity fluids such as heavy crudes, syrups, and slurries. Notably, the quadrant bore maintains a relatively constant coefficient for pressure drop measurement when the Reynolds Number is below 10,000.

The RTJ type orifice plate, designed for fluid flow measurement, incorporates an integral gasket, either an oval or octagonal ring, for mounting between ring type joint flanges. This technology is based on proven principles, features no moving parts, and is well-suited for high temperature and pressure applications. Orifice plates are particularly recommended for clean liquids, gases, and low velocity steam flows, making them effective for pressure drop measurement as well.

Spectacle Blinds are essential safety devices installed between two pipe flanges to facilitate fluid flow measurement. During normal operation, the open end functions as a spacer, allowing for uninterrupted flow. When it's necessary to stop the flow in the pipeline, the blind end can be rotated into place between the flanges. This functionality is crucial for managing orifice plate installations and ensuring accurate pressure drop measurement in fluid systems.
